Chris Eubank Sr looked a relieved man when he found out that his son's fight with Conor Benn had been cancelled.
The 56-year-old British boxing legend - and father to Chris Eubank Jr - heard the news on FaceTime from fellow ex-fighter Spencer Fearon on Thursday.
Eubank Sr expressed concerns about the fight beforehand
Eubank Jr vs Benn has now been postponed
At the start of the week, Eubank Sr had called on people to boycott the fight due to concerns over the weight.
The father was worried about the safety of his son making the agreed 157lbs catchweight, followed by the rehydration clause limit the following day.
Then, on Wednesday, news broke that Benn has tested positive for banned substance clomifene.
Despite promoters doing their best to have the fight take place regardless, the British Boxing Board of Control's decision to prohibit the fight ultimately caused a major obstacle.
On Thursday, Benn's promoter Eddie Hearn and Eubank Jr's promoter Kalle Sauerland admitted defeat and postponed the fight for the time being.
Eubank Sr was informed by Fearon on a FaceTime call as he is currently in South Africa
Eubank Sr is yet to react to this, but has now given an interview to Fearon on The Fight Is Right.
Oen clip has been posted by Fearon on his social media so far, simply showing the father's reaction to the news of the fight being off.
Fearon began: "So have you heard the news that your son's fight's been cancelled?"
Eubank Sr responded: "I don't really listen to the news."
Eubank Sr looked happy to hear the news
At which point Fearon interrupted and said: "It's been cancelled sir.
"It's been cancelled, so when you put out the statement that you wanted it to be boycotted, it's now cancelled, so it seems your words carry weight and power."
Eubank Sr reacted: "Well I'm only speaking what the people - what any father would speak."
He will no doubt be very relieved now the fight is no longer taking place.
