Indian batter Shreyas Iyer smashed 113 runs off 111 deliveries helping India win over South Africa by seven wickets in the second ODI in Ranchi. The three-match series is now at 1-1 and the third ODI will decide the winner of this series. Iyer partnered with Ishan Kishan for a 161-run partnership which came in 155 deliveries. Kishan couldn't smash a century, he mustered 93 runs off 84 balls. India restricted South Africa to 278/7 in the first innings.
India vs South Africa 2nd ODI: Match Highlights
India defeated South Africa by a seven-wicket victory in the 2nd ODI on Sunday. South Africa posted 278 runs. India lost their opening batters Shikhar Dhawan and Shubhman Gill early. The former scored 13 whereas the latter mustered 28 runs in nine overs. Victory seemed difficult but Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan came to the rescue and had a solid partnership of 161 runs. Ishan was about to hit his maiden century but got restricted at 93 runs. Shreyas Iyer shined in the game as he smashed his second ODI century. He remained unbeaten on 113 runs. Sanju Samson played a fine game as he piled up 30 runs off 36 balls and the men in blue finished with 282/3 in 45.5 overs. South Africa's decision to bat first proved to be disadvantageous to them and they lost their openers early too. Aiden Markram and Reeza Hendricks provided crucial support with a century stand. India had a strong bowling performance in the final 10 overs. Mohammad Siraj was the best pick of the bowlers as he had a figure of 3/38 from his quota of 10 overs. Others like Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, debutant Shahbaz Ahmed, and Washington Sundar scalped one wicket each.
The third and final ODI will be played in Delhi on Tuesday that'll decide the winner.
