Arsenal defeated Liverpool 3-2 in a tense affair at the Emirates Stadium. The visitors were able to come back from a goal down twice in the game. But, they were unable to take a point from London with Bukayo Saka completing his brace from the penalty spot.
It took only 58 seconds for the Gunners to take the lead, with a goal from Gabriel Martinelli. Shortly after, Darwin Nunez leveled things up after getting to the end of a cross from Luis Diaz. However, Martinelli found Saka at the far post in stoppage time to go into the break 2-1.
Arsenal return to the top of the table with huge win against Liverpool
Roberto Firmino was able to get the second equaliser for the Merseyside club, converting an assist from Diogo Jota. However, the third goal was a controversial decision, with Michael Oliver awarding a penalty for a soft foul on Gabriel Jesus.
The referee was not even instructed to consult the pitchside monitor, and Saka was able to slot the ball past Alisson to make it three for Arsenal. Liverpool had their own appeals of a penalty for a handball, but they were waived away.
Following the game, Liverpool are tenth in the table with as many points. And they are now winless in their last three games. Arsenal, on the other hand, are at the top of the table with 24 points.
