The FA have asked Everton boss Frank Lampard to 'explain his comments' made after his side's loss against Liverpool.
The Toffees had a penalty shout waved away in the second half as the game was deadlocked at 0-0 - and Lampard's post-match interview showed he wasn't best pleased with the decision.
The Toffees academy product was taken down in the box by Joel Matip at 0-0
Midfielder Gordon, 21, was booked in the first half for simulation and later left unrewarded after being impeded by Matip in the penalty area, with both referee Stuart Attwell and VAR deciding to decline the Toffees' calls for a spot-kick.
Following the full time whistle, Lampard said: "It was a penalty.
"If that was Mo Salah at the other end, he gets a penalty.
"You don't get them here (Anfield). That's the reality of football sometimes.
"If you look back with that on VAR, there's questionable things going on, maybe that's to be expected when you come here."
Now, according to The Athletic, the former Chelsea star has been asked by the FA 'to explain his comments'.
The penalty shout was waved away, as Everton went on to lose 2-0 following late goals from Liverpool's Andy Robertson and Divock Orig
It's understood the Toffees queried referees' boss Mike Riley about the officals' decision, with the club being told it was due to there being 'not enough contact to overturn the on-pitch call'.
Reports also suggest Gordon's social media post - a video of the incident coupled with two hand over face emojis - was also 'reviewed' by football's governing body.
However, no further action has been taken.
