| Alfie Felton-Glenn Oct 6 | About me Hi, I'm Alfie, a postgraduate student studying MSc Strategic Sports Marketing at Leeds Beckett University. Before beginning this postgraduate degree I studied a wide range of subjects ranging from classics to economics, before culminating in studying an undergraduate degree in Human Geography at Sheffield Hallam University. In itself, this degree offered me the opportunity to study a large variety of subjects including Urban Planning and Redevelopment, discussing Critical Geographies which explore the various cultures and communities and how they differ and interact with each other, to the Cities and the Community module which identifies how the citizens, companies, and politicians affect the city in which they live and are employed. Alongside my studies, I helped found the Photography Society at Sheffield Hallam as the first treasurer of the society which fit in nicely with my hobby of hiking and the beautiful Peak District which lies just to the south of the Steel City. The society still runs strong to this day and, although I am no longer involved, I am proud of helping establish the group and photography still remains as one of my favourite activities to do in my free time. What is your relationship with sports and why did you choose Strategic Sports Marketing? Sports have been an important part of my life ever since I took up tag rugby and tennis as a four year old. Like a lot of young children this started out as a hobby and a way to make new friends, but it resulted in two sports that I would continue to play for over ten years. Alongside these sports I'm a huge Leeds United fan, holding a season ticket since 2008, supporting Leeds throughout the last 15 years has had its ups and downs but I wouldn't change my allegiance for anyone else. Alongside football I'm a big fan of watching all sports but particular Rugby League, Ice Hockey and Tennis. When I finished my undergraduate degree I realised that I wasn't as interested in geography as I once was, this combined with being stuck at home due to COVID-19 made me lose any sort of motivation to find a job in the sector and I ended up working as a bar supervisor. As I've grown up I've realised that I'm just not able to play rugby and tennis as often as I could as a teenager, yet my passion for sports continued and so I see Sports Marketing as a way to have a professional relationship with the sports I love and that I enjoy learning about. Thanks for reading through this little introduction, I look forward to writing more content and I hope you enjoyed learning bit about me. If you would like to learn a bit more, I have left the links to my instagram where I post a lot of my photography, and my LinkedIn, where I'm slightly more professional... https://www.instagram.com/alfiefeltonglenn/?hl=en-gb https://www.linkedin.com/in/alfie-felton-glenn-084080166/ | | | | | You can also reply to this email to leave a comment. | | | | |
