You may or may not have heard of the awesome GameMaker, probably the biggest and easiest game creation tool in the world, oh and another small thing to mention it's also FREE.
With the latest bomb drop from Unity sending the game development world into a spin now could be the time to look at alternatives and GameMaker could well be the solution you're looking for.
GameMaker is perfectly suited for creating and releasing games for fun, a hobby or for game jams, or even for big commercial releases. Some of the biggest indie titles released were made on GameMaker including some of my favourites Grapple Dog, Post Void and Hotline Miami plus many many more. All GameMaker users can export their projects to upload to itch.io, for release commercially on Steam or consoles or even on Opera's own free gx.games platform
The games on gx.games are available to play on PC or mobile direct through a browser and with a vast selection available it's really well worth a look. If you are looking to develop your own idea or wanting to try one of the many available titles you really need to check the site out it really is a great thriving community.
If you are a developer using Unity and wanting to try a different approach the awesome folk at GameMaker have even come up with a handy transition guide so really why would you not give them a look?
