In northern Colorado, it isn't a party unless there's a parade, and the folks in Loveland had both on Saturday as the community kicked off its 2023 Larimer County Fair and Rodeo Parade at 9:30 a.m. at North Railroad Avenue.
"It is a very special year with 20 years at the Ranch, 75 years of the PRCA rodeo and 140 years of the fair," Parade Chair Darryl English said. "There will be some pretty big hype because of all that."
And hype there was with marching bands, equestrian groups, local organizations and businesses and other entries making their way along the parade route and waving to hundreds of spectators who lined the streets.

The Grand Marshal honors for this year's parade and upcoming fair and rodeo were given to Kathay Rennels.
Rennels has lived in Loveland for about 50 years and was instrumental in starting The Value Chain of Colorado Agriculture Project in 2013. She authored "The Emergence of an Innovation Cluster in the Agricultural Value Chain Along Colorado's Front Range" in 2014 and planned the Advancing the Agriculture Economy Through Innovation summit at Colorado State University in 2015.

A variety of 4-H Clubs and parade sponsors were also handing out information and swag at the event.
