Carson Hocevar and his crew chief Phil Gould played the perfect strategy in Saturday night's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Worldwide Express 250 at Richmond Raceway, as the 20-year-old driver had fresher tires than Ty Majeski in the closing laps of the race.
Hocevar chased Majeski down, and got around him with four laps to go, and set sail to take the victory in the Truck Series regular-season finale. Following post-race inspection, NASCAR officially named Hocevar the winner of the race, as his No. 42 Niece Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado passed inspection.
There were no issues in post-race tech, which means all results and standings following Saturday night's race are now considered official.
Majeski held on to finish second, while Zane Smith, Jake Garcia, and Matt Mills rounded out the official top-five finishers in the race.
