As well as being a crushing blow for morale, that result leaves Frank Lampard's side just one point above the relegation zone.
Kaoru Mitoma gave Robert De Zerbi's side the lead after just 14 minutes, his fourth goal in six appearances for the Seagulls.
Next on the scoresheet was a man with an incredibly bright future ahead of him, Evan Ferguson.
Making his full debut for Brighton, the striker hit the post early on before grabbing a goal and an assist to send his team on the way to victory.
At 18 years and 76 days, the striker is the youngest player to score in consecutive Premier League appearances since former Manchester United starlet Federico Macheda back in 2009.
