Four inches of snow fell in Windsor as of Thursday morning, while a portion of Greeley saw 3.3 inches from winter weather that moved through the state for the second time in about a week on Wednesday night.
Firestone was the winner in Weld County with a total accumulation of seven inches as of Thursday morning according to the National Weather Service Denver-Boulder forecast office. Windsor received four inches and south Greeley, near U.S. 34, saw just under 3.5 inches.
Denver International Airport received 7.1 inches, which led to a few cancellations and delays for airlines other than Southwest.
The Denver-Boulder forecast office issued a winter weather advisory Wednesday evening for areas including Greeley and Weld County with projections of between 2 and 5 inches of snow into Thursday morning.
The winter weather came about a week after a more significant event that saw cold, dangerous wind chill values and snow throughout the state — leading to local closures and delays heading into the Christmas weekend.
Gov. Jared Polis' office on Thursday morning announced government offices in Denver and surrounding suburban counties were to open to the public on a 2-hour delay, at 10 a.m. because of the weather.
"State facilities essential to public health and safety will maintain regular operating schedules and "essential personnel" must report to work at their normal scheduled time," according to the email sent at 5:18 a.m. Thursday.
The National Weather Service Denver-Boulder forecast office said temperatures were to be cooler for Thursday behind the storm system with readings in the 30s through the plains.
The high for Greeley is 34 degrees and 37 Friday with high temperatures in the low to mid 40s for the weekend.
