Gabby Agbonlahor believes Aston Villa star Emiliano Martinez is the world's best goalkeeper.
Martinez was one of Argentina's heroes in their run to World Cup glory in Qatar, keeping three clean sheets in the tournament as well as making a series of great saves in their win over France in the final.
The goalkeeper was superb at the World Cup
Such heroics have now seen Agbonlahor make a huge claim about the 30-year-old, who will soon make a return to Villa.
When asked by Laura Woods on Amazon Prime if Martinez is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, the former Villa striker said: "I think he's the best goalkeeper in the world.
"He's won the World Cup with Argentina, outstanding performance. I mean, some of the saves he made all through the tournament...
"I think everyone who was watching the final knew that Argentina were going to win with Emi Martinez in goal.
"He's got to come back to Aston Villa now. He's signed until 2027, so there's no worries for Aston Villa, they've done the business early.
"He's coming back as the best 'keeper in the world."
Martinez will soon make his way back to Villa for the rest of the season
Martinez was undoubtedly superb for Argentina, but has recently faced criticism for his celebrations at the final.
Villa boss Unai Emery said: "Of course, when you have big emotion, it's sometimes difficult to control it.
"I will speak with him next week about some of the celebrations, but I respect, because he is now under his national team.
"When he's going to be back with us and he's our responsibility [again], then we can speak about it."
Villa will be hoping Martinez can replicate his World Cup form when he returns to the club ahead of the second half of the season.
