On October 31st, Verizon announced it had agreed to a multi-year partnership with the online fantasy esports platform World Champion Fantasy (WCF). This deal will see Verizon integrate its services, tools, and technology stack into WCF's new PlayerX platform.
By using Verizon's 5G Ultra Wideband network, esports fans will be able to compete in fantasy leagues while also creating their own teams comprised of esports athletes or gaming orgs on the PlayerX platform. Through this deal, platform subscribers will be able to watch exclusive live feeds of esports events and gain access to real-time gaming data.
"While the way we watch, interact, and participate in esports evolves, PlayerX is leveraging on 5G to deliver the pinnacle of immersive esports-meets-fantasy sports experiences for fans," said Mike Caralis, the VP of Business Markets at Verizon Business. "We are excited for this opportunity to partner with such an innovative, forward-thinking company that is ready to tap the full potential of the rapidly growing Esports and gaming markets."
World Champion Fantasy is a fantasy sports focused gaming organization that is based out of Chesterfield, Missouri. The two games the company currently covers are VALORANT and CS:GO. WCF plans on providing coverage of other titles, like League of Legends and Call of Duty, next year.
