Sporting CP are set to sign Mateo Tanlongo from Argentine club Rosario Central during the January transfer window. The Portuguese club have reached total agreement for the transfer of the youngster in the new year.
Atletico Madrid were also interested in signing the 19-year-old as a replacement for Koke, amidst uncertainty about the future of Rodrigo De Paul and Geoffrey Kondogbia.

The deal has been given the here we go signal by Fabrizio Romano, and all the formalities have been completed for the transfer to go through. An announcement from the club's regarding the move is expected in the coming week. His contract runs out in January, and he will arrive on a free transfer.
Mateo Tanlongo plays as a defensive midfielder, and can also be used in an advanced position. He has made 36 senior appearances for Rosario Central, and has also played for the Argentina U-20 team.
Sporting CP have earned a reputation for developing some of the top players in the world. As a result, it will be interesting to see how the move pans out for the teenager who has shown a lot of promise so far.
