The Video Game Awards start this Thursday, Dec. 8 on 'all streaming platforms' including Twitch and YouTube.
The situation
Nominations for the Video Game Awards were announced Monday at 12 pm ET with the coveted Game of the Year 2022 Nominees rounding up: A Plague Tale: Requiem, Elden Ring, God of War: Ragnarok, Horizon: Forbidden West, Stray and Xenoblade Chronicles 3. All but two titles are a sequel to an award-winning series.
Speaking of sequels, this week we discussed the very credible rumor that we may see a Diablo 4 release date announcement at the VGAs in December!

What it means for gamers
Whether you line up with the nominees or the winners in the awards categories, the VGAs always have a pretty good showing of announcements, reveals, new trailers, and other details. As mentioned, there's been a lot of buzz about Diablo 4 information, including speculation of a release date to precede an early 2023 open beta. With a healthy number of leaks, rumors, and anticipation to fuel the 2023 gaming lineup.
Personally, I'm more interested in seeing the details behind new games coming and listed for 2023 since the writing seems to be on the wall for the awards and GOTY winners this year.
I don't think there will be any surprises in the awards – hopefully, there will be plenty in the reveals and announcements!
