Fernandes, who has captained United on numerous occasions, appeared to ignore Ronaldo before reluctantly shaking his hand and muttering something which seemed to surprise the striker. It is certainly not ideal preparation for what could be Ronaldo's last effort to win the World Cup - but the five-time Ballon d'Or winner insists his mind is fully fixed on the national team.
