Adam Catterall has raged it will be a 'shambles' if Chris Eubank Jr's fight with Conor Benn on Saturday goes ahead despite the latter's failed drugs test.
It was revealed on Wednesday that Benn had returned an adverse finding for clomifene in August, before passing a UK Anti-Doping test.
Conor Benn failed a random drug test in August ahead of Saturday's bout with Chris Eubank Jr
The banned substance can increase testosterone in men, while it is primarily used to treat fertility in women.
To the shock of many - including Frank Warren - the next generation bout is yet to be called off as it stands, despite the British Board of Control prohibiting the domestic dust-up.
According to the Daily Mail, the pair are even scheduled to come face-to-face in a press conference on Thursday with promoters Eddie Hearn and Kalle Sauerland reluctant to pull the contest.
And talkSPORT commentator Catterall has spoken of his outrage that the match-up is still on, as he likened the situation to the 'Wild West'.
Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast Catterall said: "We have signed up for testing. That test has flagged an adverse finding.
"Why are we ignoring what has been found in that test? Because that's exactly what we're doing right now. We're ignoring it.
Eubank Jr vs Benn, as it stands is still going ahead
"We've decided, 'Well hold on a minute, that doesn't sit well with our narrative right now, that doesn't work for us, so we're actually going to use these rules over here'.
"Nah mate, come on, let's get real! The guy had something in his system, let's sort that thing out first. Let's get to the bottom of it before we proceed with the fight.
"What if something bad happens at the weekend? Boxing gets dragged through the mud, and it's not just an Eddie Hearn show, or a Matchroom show.
"This is the whole of boxing that gets dragged through the mud. The mainstream will absolutely disown the sport.
Benn's domestic dust-up with Eubank Jr was highly-anticipated but is now facing calls from across boxing to be called off
"Sponsorships will clear off, all these fighters getting paid decent dough to be contesting for these championship belts on a Saturday night.
"That will no longer be a thing because they'll run for the hills. Why would you want to be involved with the Wild West?
"There are no rules! It will be an absolute shambles if this fight goes ahead at the weekend."
Simon Jordan has also weighed in on the matter as the talkSPORT pundit stated that, should the fight go ahead, it would bring the sport of boxing into disrepute.
And former world champion Carl Frampton believes Benn should be banned for life after failing the random drug test.
