Max Verstappen is closing in on a second consecutive F1 championship, and he could win the title as soon as the Singapore Grand Prix next weekend. However, for that to happen, Ferrari will need to have an exceptionally bad day.
But down the line, it seems only a matter of time that the Dutchman ends up winning the driver's championship in 2022. And alongside the title, here are some of the other records that he could achieve this year.
Max Verstappen closing in on several big F1 records
Most wins in a season
This one seems like the record Max Verstappen will break soonest, considering he has already won 11 faces this season. The record stands at 13 wins in one season, shared by Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher.
Most consecutive wins
In 2013, Vettel won nine consecutive races. Verstappen is at five right now, and given the form he is showing, he might just match the record.
Most points gap with second place
Also in 2013, Sebastian Vettel finished 155 points ahead of second placed Fernando Alonso. This year, a similar, if not greater margin of victory could be seen in the driver's championship.
Most points in a season
The Red Bull driver currently stands at 335 points. With 160 points still available, he could beat Lewis Hamilton's record of 415 points in one season in 2022.
