Conor McGregor's long-time coach, John Kavanagh, has claimed that he was kicked out of UFC 279 after cornering a fighter on the main card.
Kavanagh accompanied light-heavyweight contender Johnny Walker to his latest UFC fight which was a resounding success as he submitted Ion Cutelaba inside one round at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Walker got a much-needed win on the UFC 279 main card
The win was massive for Walker who had suffered back-to-back losses heading into UFC 279 and may have been at risk of being cut if things hadn't gone his way on Saturday night.
However, soon after his win the Brazilian and his coaching team were escorted out of the arena, forbidden from watching the rest of the UFC's latest pay-per-view event from inside the arena.
"So UFC just came and kicked us out. No tickets for us and not allowed stay back stage to watch. Pulled out back door, kicked out, no even [got] shoes on, Kavanagh tweeted.
The Brazilian has trained at SBG for his last few fights
Soon after his big win at UFC 279, Walker was kicked out of the T-Mobile Arena
The SBG Ireland Head Coach later posted a video of himself and Walker, who was still in his fight kit and had no shoes on, back at their hotel.
"So here we are back at the hotel, Johnny still has his gloves on, he didn't get a chance to get changed," Kavanagh said.
UFC president Dana White was told about the incident ahead of his post-fight press conference before he claimed it was a result of a protocol that was put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I guess ever since COVID, they started this thing where they get the fighters right out of here. I don't know why that happened or what happened. I mean, we are not throwing Johnny Walker out of the arena shoeless, I'm sure," he said.
The UFC boss didn't seem happy about the situation
The UFC boss then seemed shocked to hear that there were in fact pictures of Walker leaving the T-Mobile Arena without shoes soon after his fight.
"We f***ing threw him right on the streets, huh? It's rough around here," White added.
Although a little disappointing, nothing will dampen Walker's mood after he picked up his first win in two years to re-establish himself as a contender at 205lbs.
Especially as White announced that Walker is set to be rewarded with a $50,000 performance bonus that he can put towards his upcoming wedding to his fiancée Tara Campbell.
