YouTuber AnEsonGib (birth name Ali Loui Al-Fakhri) returned to professional boxing with an emphatic win over Austin McBroom on Saturday night at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.
The popular 26-year-old suffered a first-round stoppage defeat to Jake Paul in his only other sanctioned pro bout to date back in January 2020 – when both men were making their debuts.
Paul easily handled Gib in 2020
Prior to that, Gib had won two white-collar bouts and was thought of as a solid challenge to Jake by followers of the YouTube scene, but the fight was a complete mismatch.
'The Problem Child' floored the Englishman three times within the opening three minutes to finish the fight and prove he was in fact levels above his fellow internet celebrity.
Since then, Gib has picked up a six-round decision win against Tayler Holder – originally scored a majority draw - who he fought in a bout that was not officially sanctioned as a pro fight but was in many ways treated as such.
On the same night, McBroom began his boxing journey in impressive fashion as he stopped Bryce Hall before being booked to face Gib on July 30 at the Crypto.com Arena.
AnEsonGib impressed in his comeback fight
McBroom was impressive in his first outing
The fight was pushed back due to a head injury Gib suffered in training before they finally got it on this weekend in a fight that could've gone desperately wrong for Paul's former opponent who was dropped in round one.
However, he began to take over in round two and managed to drop his overzealous foe four times before finding the perfect shot to knock McBroom out cold and record his first professional boxing win.
"I flew all the way to England, all the way to America to KO the CEO. That's what I came to do," Gib told Michelle Joy Phelps post-fight.
"All respect to Austin McBroom. I appreciate him inviting him to the first Social Gloves, and this Social Gloves. Without him I wouldn't have my redemption story, so all respect to him.
Gib put on a show in his second pro fight
KSI stretched his perfect boxing record to 3-0 by picking up 2 wins in 1 night
After picking up two wins in one-night last month, KSI suggested that his next fight could come against the win over Gib vs McBroom, but the Londoner shrugged off talk about who may be his next opponent.
"I've got my revenge. I've got my redemption. I've been working so hard in the gym. I'm going to keep going and I'm looking forward to my next fight," he added.
"Right now, whatever makes money, makes sense. I'll go forward towards that [KSI fight]. We'll see what opponent comes my way and we'll see what the future holds."
