Ninety-six youngsters participated in the Sterling High School golf camp earlier this summer.
The camp, a fundraiser for the SHS golf team, was sponsored by Sterling Rotary Club, which lined up pin sponsors. Sheila Worley, who headed the Rotary effort, said two groups of children took part in the camp, one of Kindergartners through third-grade and the second of fourth grade through eighth grade. The older youngsters competed in a five-hole tournament.
Pin prize winners were:
- Closest to the pin (young group) Camila Meraz, on Hole 1
- Closest to the pin (senior group) Brenden Miller
- Longest putt, Parker Tribbett on Hole 2
- Longest drive, Tyler Everhart
- Longest putt, Daphani Allen, Hole 5
- Closest to the pin chip, Dylan Evans, Hole 4
Forty-eight of the participants also competed in putting and driving contests. Winners in those contests were Conor Schmittling, Creo Mekelburg, and Logan Sides
