Roma are set to sign Gini Wijnaldum in the coming days, with the player prioritising a move to the Italian capital. There have been other proposals offered to the midfielder, namely, that of Everton. But the player is not in favour of moving back to Merseyside.
Instead, he is keen to try a new experience under Jose Mourinho with Roma. All parties are keen on the move, and it is only a matter of working out the details before the transfer is made official.
Gini Wijnaldum to join Roma once agreement is in place
The Dutchman has failed to perform up to expectations during his time with the Parisians. He joined them from Liverpool as a free agent, but is now set to move on only one year after joining the Ligue 1 side.
Roma have proposed a loan plus buy option to sign Gini Wijnaldum. They will be covering half of his €8 million salary for the 22/23 season, with a €12 million buy option included in the deal.
On the other hand, there is also the option of a permanent transfer under €10 million that is being explored. Either way, Roma is expected to be the next destination for the Dutchman, who wants to make it to the national team ahead of the 2022 World Cup in winter. He will join Nemanja Matic and Paulo Dybala as new signings for the Giallorossi this summer.
