Fenerbahce fans sparked outrage by chanting for Vladimir Putin during a Champions League qualifying defeat to Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday.
After a goalless draw in Poland, the Ukrainian giants edged the second leg in Turkey with a 2-1 victory after extra-time, sending them through to the third round of qualifying.
The match marked a moment of defiance for the Ukrainian players
But some Fenerbahce fans marred the occasion
Dynamo, the most famous team in Ukraine, have been forced to overcome the invasion by Russia in their homeland to try and qualify for European football's elite competition.
The Ukrainian Premier League was abandoned in February and clubs faced a mass exodus of foreign players - but Dynamo and their fellow top-flight sides remain determined to defy the Kremlin.
Before the first leg, Dynamo and Fenerbahce players wore 'Stop War' t-shirts as the Ukrainian side took to the field for the first time since the Russian invasion.
In Turkey, however, there was no such solidarity from the Istanbul faithful.
A large section of supporters were heard chanting for Russian president Putin.
Responding to the scenes, TalkTV host Piers Morgan tweeted: "So disgusting.
Dynamo had the last laugh
"But Dynamo won... making Fenerbahce double losers."
The Ukrainian side took the lead through Vitaliy Buyalskyi on 57 minutes after their hosts were reduced to ten men with a red card for Ismail Yuksek.
Dynamo's dreams were nearly crushed by an 88th-minute equaliser from Attila Szalai - and the match was heading to penalties before Oleksandr Karavayev won it for the visitors with six minutes of extra-time remaining.
They will face Austrian side SK Sturm Graz in the third round of qualifying on Tuesday.
