The final week of practicum has shown up, and has come and gone. What an experience it has been here at the station. This week, we had a solid busy week with three Flames games and just a busy slate of guests.
The Big Show this week we had a lot of guests and I was given the headlines section to practice and work on for the future. I want to give a big thanks to Logan Gordon and Will Nault for showing me the ropes and giving me feedback as we went along through the shows. Was a great experience learning from them and being able to see how to do a sports talk show as I am wanting to start my own sports podcast so it was very beneficial seeing how to carry a show out.
Flames Talk was a big challenge with more moving pieces over the month. Being able to produce the show and also cut there show into a podcast and write the headlines for the podcasts was a great learning curve as we never covered how to do that in a quick manner. That was a huge take away for me and it helped my editing skills out and being able to edit on the fly and work the board and still get the guests lined up was a great challenge. Big thanks goes out to Pat Steinberg and Matt Rose for all the support and feedback for the future cant thank these guys enough.
The whole experience at 960 The Fan was crazy getting thrown into the fire on day two with the bodies going down with COVID and never looked back after that, being able to do a Blue Jays game was a fun experience and good learning's there. I took a lot away from being here and It will be very helpful for me to get my own podcast on the go. It was a good way to see the other side of being on radio instead of just being on air it gave me a better understanding and has made me more well rounded for the future.
I am probably going to be sticking around for a bit to help with their interns coming in for summer and picking up shifts while I can as I am still working at 660 News on the weekends.
What a month and hopefully more great adventures for the future.
