Antonio Rudiger is set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season when his contract is over. First team manager Thomas Tuchel has publicly confirmed the centre-back's departure when his contract expires in June.
Real Madrid are currently leading the race for the defender and are in talks with him for a free transfer. A contract until 2026 is being discussed between the two parties for the transfer. Personal terms are close to being finalised between Madrid and Rudiger, and the transfer seems only a matter of time.

The formal contracts are being prepared for the move now, and the paperworks will be completed in the next few days to finalise the transfer.
The move will not be announced right now, out of respect for Chelsea. Antonio Rudiger has been one of the key parts of Thomas Tuchel's team over the last 18 months. And even though the coach and the fans wanted the Germany international to stay, the sanctions cast doubt over his future and have now driven him away from Stamford Bridge.
Carlo Ancelotti is getting one of the best central defenders in the world in his prime right now. A partnership with Eder Militao in the back four seems all but guaranteed, and this would allow David Alaba to move out to left-back as well. Otherwise, it would allow Ancelotti more options to maintain the defense throughout the season.
