Conor McGregor appears to be edging closer to a return to the UFC octagon and is now counting down the days until he can fight again.
The Irishman suffered a fractured tibia and fibula at UFC 264 in July 2021 and has been healing up ever since. McGregor's recovery process recently ended, and he is now back in the gym working on his fitness ahead of his eagerly anticipated return to action.

On Monday, McGregor documented his most recent trip to the boxing gym before taking to social media to let fans know that he will be coming back sooner rather than later.
"Right hook tastiness, catch you soon the count down is on," he wrote on Instagram.
The question on everyone's lips is: Who will McGregor fight in his return?
'Mystic Mac' has announced his intention to return at welterweight and he thinks an immediate crack at UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is what awaits when he returns to action.

McGregor is approaching full fitness for the first time since UFC 264
"I believe versus Usman for the 170-pound title for my comeback is the one I'm eyeballing at the minute," McGregor told the MacLife
"I feel big, I feel strong, I feel healthy, I've got good energy. I'm coming back after a gruesome injury. I do not want to deplete myself, there should be no need to deplete myself.
"And I feel confident against Usman. A jab happy, sloppy, orthodox wrestler with no submissions whatsoever. What's he gonna do? Where's the danger here? I don't see a danger with him.
"His ground-and-pound isn't strong, plus he's on the older side. And then plus the world is to be took again. The triple crown."
Usman has a 15-0 record in the UFC and is the current welterweight champion
'The Nigerian Nightmare' is being lined up for a title defence against British fighter Leon Edwards, although it was recently suggested that 'Rocky' has been offered step aside money to allow Usman vs. McGregor to take place this summer.
If McGregor opts to cut down to lightweight a title shot may await.
Charles Oliveira will defend his 155lb strap against Justin Gaehtje at UFC 274 on May 7. As there's no obvious number one contender in the division right now, McGregor could face the winner of that fight.
