Seven to eight inches of snow fell in the Greeley area as of Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service, and the rest of the day and night will be marked by cold temperatures.

David Barjenbuch, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in the Denver/Boulder office, provided a wide range of snowfall totals for Weld County towns and areas as of late Wednesday morning.

The much-discussed storm had nearly a statewide impact and resulted in multiple Weld County school districts and the University of Northern Colorado cancelling classes on Wednesday.

The 7-8 inches across the Greeley area was the high snow total for this part of the county. The Windsor area saw 5-6 inches, Nunn received 4 and only about 2.5 inches fell in Weld near the Wyoming border.

Firestone, in the southwest part of the county, also saw 7 inches, and Barjenbuch said Prospect Valley, located south and east of Keenesburg, was reported to have received about 9 inches.

"It was pretty variable in some of these locations," Barjenbuch said. "It was a pretty difficult weather event for us. The cold came down across the Plains and that's what brought the cold temperatures and that helps with snow production."

The high temperature today in the Greeley area is forecasted to be 16 degrees, according to the NWS. Barjenbuch said the temperature will drop to below zero in the county tonight and could drop to -15 at the Greeley-Weld County Airport.

The NWS said 1-2 inches of additional snow is expected, mainly before 5 p.m. There is a 90% chance of additional precipitation. Wind chill values today could drop to -1.
