Arsenal face a huge test as they take on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

After one rearrangement, the two sides faced off at Anfield last week in a game that ended 0-0, despite Granit Xhaka's red card.

It could be a tense encounter at the Emirates Stadium

While a lack of games has played a part, Mikel Arteta's side are without a win since Boxing Day when they beat Norwich City 5-0.

For Jurgen Klopp's side this will be a valuable opportunity to move a step closer to winning some silverware with their search for the Premier League title proving tricky due to the form of Man City.

It could be an entertaining encounter and one that you don't want to miss.

Arsenal v Liverpool: Team news

Mikel Arteta has kept his cards close to his chest regarding his team selection ahead of the clash, however Granit Xhaka will miss out through suspension following his red card at Anfield last week.

However, reports have suggested that as many as five first team players could be back in contention with Bukayo Saka, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Calum Chambers and Cedric Soares said to have shaken off their injuries.

Meanwhile, Martin Odegaard could also return after testing positive for COVID-19.

Liverpool will be without a number of key players for the clash.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will miss out with an ankle injury, while the likes of Naby Keita, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are away on AFCON Duty.

While Thiago Alcantara and Divock Origi are stepping up their recovery from injury they won't be fit for the clash.

Martin Odegaard could return for the clash with Liverpool

Arsenal v Liverpool: What has been said?

Mikel Arteta: "We have the opportunity to get into a final, which is close to a title, against a big opponent, in our stadium, with our people, so we are very excited to play the game.

"They are able to change the energy, the momentum of the game, give a massive lift to the players and give them confidence so if they can drive the team the way they have been doing recently, that would be incredibly helpful to give us the best possible chance to get in the final.

"Obviously, the way to play in that stadium, when you have your people next to you, and the way they have been, how encouraging, supportive, loud, really creates a bond with the team and makes a huge difference.

"It is one of the best atmospheres I've seen for many, many years at the Emirates and I've been in a few of those so I can just thank the fans for their support that they are giving the team."

Pep Ljinders: "What I like about the Arsenal game is that we wanted to surprise them with our intensity and that's what we did until Xhaka went off.

"I really think that in football the only advantage exists if you go to the last minute of the game, to be honest. Before that, it's quite even. I think Mikel did an unbelievable job. The team is a proper team.

"They were struggling as well with injuries and, how you said, COVID cases and they had to change as well in the last minute, but if you can play with 10 men like that then you have a mature and good team."
