The University of Northern Colorado swimming team will be represented on the global stage next month.
Senior Madelyn Moore will represent her home country of Bermuda at the Short Course World Championships in the United Arab Emirates.
Moore is expected to participate in the freestyle, butterfly and backstroke for the 50-meter and 100-meter lengths, according to the International Swimming Federation website.
"Maddy has worked incredibly hard in and out of the pool to get where she is," UNC coach Lisa Ebeling said in a release. "Her attention to detail is among the best and her confidence continues to grow each day."
Additionally, Ebeling was selected to coach Team Bermuda at the championships and will travel to Abu Dhabi with Moore.
"It is an absolute honor for me to represent Team Bermuda as a coach at the World Championships, and I'm excited to share in this special experience with Maddy," Ebeling said.
Ebeling has helped guide Moore to several Western Athletic Conference titles and awards, including the 2020-21 WAC Swimmer of the Year. Moore has already earned two swimmer of the week nods this season.
The captain earned three gold medals at the WAC Championships this spring and won seven events in the Bears' opening meet. She also won four races at the UNC meet against Idaho at the end of October.
Moore and Ebeling have been working to fine tune details of her strokes and endurance, Moore said in a news release.
"I've never been so confident heading into a meet and I'm very excited to get back to international competition," Moore said.
The 15th FINA World Swimming Championships (25 meters) will take place Dec. 16 to Dec. 21.
Moore already holds several Bermuda national records in long course swimming and will look to add to those at the short course competition.
Other notable swimmers that are expected to make appearances at the event include American Olympians Abbey Weitzeil, Lilly King and Swedish phenom Sarah Sjoestroem.
