The Miami Dolphins received a slew of updates on Wednesday regarding key players.

Head coach Brian Flores said quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been practicing and "he's doing everything —he's moving in the right direction" to play Sunday when Miami travels to London, England for a date with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"We're hopeful that he's ready to go this week in practice and this week for the game," Flores said Monday, but reiterated multiple times in media availability on Wednesday.

Tagovailoa broke ribs in the first quarter of the Dolphins' home opener shutout loss to the Buffalo Bills. He took multiple hits in the opening minutes in the game, when the offensive line struggled covering, and landed hard, cracking ribs.

He didn't officially land on injured reserve, but did as the week went on following the NFL's week two. His short-term IR stint, that saw him miss weeks three through five, is the minimum requirement for players to miss when placed on that length of IR.

Flores Needs to See Tagovailoa in Game-Like Situations, He Said

"We'll need to see him move around, throw the ball, see him make throws on the run, see the deep ball," Flores said of Tagovailoa. "There's obviously going to be from a pain-tolerance standpoint some things he's going to have to push through, which I'm sure he will."

Tagovailoa has led the Dolphins to their only win this season in the only game he has finished - their home opener, a 17-16 away win in Foxborough against the New England Patriots. Since, Miami has dropped four straight.

Additionally, wide receiver DeVante Parker missed Sunday's hammering in Tampa Bay after he was ruled out with a hamstring injury. This is the second year in a row Parker has missed games due to his hamstring. He additionally picked up a shoulder injury since final injury designation reports on Sunday.

Flores confirmed Wednesday that Parker is not ready to practice. He is doubtful for the London game, and it is currently unclear whether he will even travel with the team.

Questionable Player Designations

Other areas of concern that aren't quite known at this time include backup QB Jacoby Brissett and cornerback Xavien Howard.

Brissett was carted to the locker room Sunday with a hamstring injury, but didn't miss an offensive series. However, he played through the injury, Flores said, and it is still nagging him this week.

However, Flores said, barring a setback, Brissett should be available.

Finally, the veteran CB didn't practice Wednesday.

Howard is suffering from a groin injury, although the severity is not clear. He seemed to struggle some in coverage on Sunday, surrendering two touchdowns.

Flores did not comment further than saying Howard did not practice.

Other News and Notes

With Parker and WR Will Fuller (IR) likely unavailable for Sunday's contest. Miami signed wideout Travis Fulgham. Fulgham quickly rose in the Philadelphia Eagles corps last season and finished the season with 539 yards and four scores on 14.2 yards per catch.
