NBA Free Agency is officially open as of 6 pm eastern time on Monday, August 6th and it didn't take a lot of time for the first major domino to fall. Lonzo Ball is heading to the Chicago Bulls on a four year, $85 million contract in a sign and trade agreement. This information comes from his Agent Rich Paul. In the sign and trade the New Orleans Pelicans are getting Tomas Satoransky, Garrett Temple, and a second round pick.
After not being able to find his footing with the Los Angeles Lakers, Ball made his was to the Pelicans in the trade that sent Anthony Davis to LA. Ball was able to find himself a good role with the Pelicans where he wasn't the face of the franchise but he was still important to their success. In his two seasons in New Orleans he averaged 13.1 points per game, 6.4 assists per game, and 5.5 rebounds per game.
Satoransky has spent five years in the NBA with the Washington Wizards and Chicago Bulls. He has averaged 23 minutes per game over his career where he has put up 7.4 points per game, 4,2 assists per game, and 3.0 rebounds per game. He is due $10 million this season and is due to become a free agent. The versatile Guard will be a key man coming off the bench.
Temple has been in the league for 11 seasons and New Orleans will be his 10th team. This man will offically have played for 1/3rd of the NBA. Temple is sure to become another role player as New Orleans looks to add pieces around Zion Williamson. He has only been a full time starter twice in his career.
Even though Lonzo Ball is heading to the Bulls, this one move will not be enough to make the Chicago Bulls an Eastern Conference run, and that's even if the re-sign Zach LaVine. They will need to go out and get another piece to match up with teams like Milwaukee and Brooklyn.
