John Stones has reportedly put pen-to-paper on a new bumper five-year deal at Manchester City.
The Athletic claim an announcement will be made by the Premier League club imminently, with Stones signing a deal worth a whopping £250,000-a-week.
The 27-year-old's current deal was due to expire at the end of next season, with club chiefs identifying securing Stones' future as a top priority this summer.
The former Everton defender's resurgence for club and country has been quite remarkable, with Stones now widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in Europe.
Stones is understood to have made it clear he had no intention of leaving the Etihad and expressed his desire to sign a contract extension.
The new deal is set to land Stones an incredible £13million-per-season before tax; which will put him in the same bracket as rivals such as Harry Maguire and Virgil van Dijk.
Stones formed a formidable partnership with Ruben Dias at the heart of City's defence in 2020/21, with Guardiola's men conceding just 12 league goals while the former Barnsley prodigy was on the pitch.
The defender also had a better pass success rate (93.3 per cent) than any other player in the Premier League last season.
Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O'Hara likened Stones to ex-Man United and England star Rio Ferdinand on talkSPORT last month.
"I love John Stones, I've always liked him. He's a brilliant football player," he said.
"He's the closest thing we've had to Rio Ferdinand, who along with John Terry, was the best centre-half in the Premier League.
"I love watching John Stones, I enjoy watching the way he plays. He's calm, he's composed but also a brilliant defender."
