Referee allegedly assaulted at FAS FA Cup match.

Yet another football match, and yet another incident which could well involve the Singapore Police Force.

On 16 October, TMSG was presented with yet another video which highlighted the perceived alarming lack of discipline in amateur football in Singapore.

The video is allegedly taken on 8 October, and TMSG can confirm that the incident took place during the match between East Coast United FC and GFA Victoria FC which was held at the Bukit Gombak Stadium.

In the 20-second video, a referee is seen allegedly being assaulted by a player during the match, believed to be during the ongoing FAS FA Cup competition.

According to multiple sources, the referee was pushed to the ground by the player in question.

WHAT THE VIDEO SHOWS

The video first shows the referee pointing to a player who is part of a free kick wall and awarding him a card, while pointing to the stands, meaning he has been red-carded and given his marching orders.

Subsequently, a player in a blue jersey, assumed to be the player who has been sent off, is seen walking towards the referee.

The referee is then seen falling to the ground, as players from the opposite side raise their hands to get the assistant referees and fourth official's attention.

The assistant referees are then seen heading into the field of play while the player who is alleged to have assaulted the referee is led away by his own team-mates.

TMSG understands that a police report has been filed.

In September, TMSG also reported how an FAS Island Wide League match resulted in the police being summoned to the Serangoon Stadium after a scuffle broke out in the stands during a non-league match between Marsiling Causeway Bay FC and East Coast United FC.
