When the Cleveland Browns take the field Sunday, they will be without their starting quarterback. Deshaun Watson has been ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Baltimore Ravens. Cleveland will be turning to Dorian Thompson-Robinson to start in his place.
While Watson was hopeful to play against the Ravens, it was too much of an uphill battle for him to be healthy enough to take the field. Watson is dealing with a shoulder injury, which limited him in practice all week. Considering that Cleveland's bye is next week and with the Browns taking the big picture into account, allowing Watson to have this extended time to heal is the right decision.
It is going to be a tough task for the Browns offense this afternoon. Cleveland is without their best player and is now being forced to start a rookie against a tough Ravens defense. This is a game that must be handled very carefully on offense. Thompson-Robinson did impress in preseason, but it is important not to place too much stock into performances that do not count.
Additionally, tight end David Njoku will play today, according to reports. There was some concern that he would be unavailable for the contest after being burned during an accident at home. Having Njoku available should make Thompson-Robinson's job easier on a day when he is being thrust into action.
