September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month. Sterling Public Library encourages you to get a library card and use it. A library card is the smartest card you can carry. Your first card at Sterling Public Library is free. To obtain the card you need to visit the library, bring identification with your current address and fill out a simple registration card. It takes only a minute and is ready to use immediately.
This year Sterling Public Library has partnered with area businesses to celebrate the month. Each week there are two businesses that will provide a discount if you show your library card. The week of Sept. 3–9 Baja Tacos will provide 20% off your order and Scooter's Coffee will provide $1.00 off drinks. The week of Sept. 10-16 ForeQuarters BBQ will provide 10% off your order and Sam & Louie's Italian Restaurant will provide 15% off your meal. The week of Sept. 17–23 Hot Java Coffee will provide $1.00 off drinks and J&L CafĂ© will offer buy 1 meal, get one ½ off. The week of Sept. 24–30 Domino's Pizza will provide 25% off carry-out only and Simkins Parlour will give 10% off your order. Your library card does so much more than provide library services this month.
The library also has several drawings you can enter during the month. Stop in and try to guess our "Book in the Jar" for a chance to win a $25.00 gift card. We will also be entering names in a drawing if you get a library card, renew your library card or check out materials during September.
Libraries today also do so much more than provide books. Public libraries provide access to computers, downloadable music, audio books and e-books, informational databases, videos, DVDs, magazines, programs, meeting space, staff ready to answer your questions and much more.
Visit Sterling Public Library and sign-up and use your card today. Be sure to visit the local businesses who are partnering with us and take advantage of their generous discounts.
