I have decided to ride the stages of this Rouvy event with building severity so this second one to Zaragoza sees the end of the flat and fast racing.
I have the rest of the actual Vuelta to ride the remaining two stages so will look to knock those over next week.
On current position (and its worth remembering here that those in the race can ride the stages when they want and in whatever order) I am 113th on this particular stage.
This was a pretty standard route up and down an A road and i was interested to see that my time loss (remembering that this is a GC event) was a lot less than the first stage.
Only 4 minutes lost to the watts crushers at the top of the classification.
I lost 9 minutes on stage one.
I feel like this was a good stage to ride second as its a case of getting through it before the hillier ones wrap up my Virtual Vuelta. Not difficult but with enough energy needed to have to push all the way.
There was only one Strava segment on this stage so it was less of an interval fest and more steady.
I will update you all next week as I look to get my time in the club house for the complete event and can then sit and see how people get on trying to beat it!
