Overview
Ship of Fools is a seafaring cooperative roguelite. Set sail, man the cannons and battle sea monsters through the tempestuous seas of the Archipelago. Are you fool enough to stop the Aquapolypse?
In a clamshell, Ship of Fools is a game about blasting away your seaborne foes with mighty cannons as you defend your ship. Inspired by modern classic roguelites and built for co-op, you'll want to bring your first mate on deck and enjoy oarsome combat as you unlock new trinkets and artifacts to help you save the world from catastrophe.

Review
I do like a good co-op game, a good bit of honest fun, this is exactly what Ship of Fools is a light hearted roguelite sea faring adventure that sees you battling all types of sea monsters throughout the treacherous waters of Archipelago. From the outset this game sounds proper serious but it really isn't, even the bad guys look cute, this is a really fun adventure to play through as you man your ships and protect yourself from the onslaught from the murky depths.
Although this game is advertised as a co-op adventure you can just as well play the game in single player mode and still get alot of enjoyment from the game. The little characters you play as are so much fun and give the game a relaxed feel to it which at first is a little unexpected but as the game plays on it really works.
As you play through the game you can visit blacksmiths that will enable you upgrade your weapons enabling you to take down the bigger monsters with more effective attacks. In similar style you start off weaker and build up your character as you progress through the game which is basically what roguelite games are all about. The game is perfectly fine to play as a single player game as the game give you automated weapons which take the place of other players giving you a smoother experience as you get into the mad cap intense game.
As you play the game you will come to understand your fools and which one can help in certain situations which will definitely come in handy as you work through the map, speaking of working through the map look out for various icons that come up pointing you in the direction of supplies and upgrades for your ship.
The game is pretty simple to get into and hard to put down in standard roguelite style, the game is engineered for co-op gameplay and is better to be played that way but you still get the feel of the game if you play single player as well. If you play single player the game will give you a helping hand making the weapons automated with you only having to keep the ammo topped up - which in itself is a job and a half.
Graphics and Sound
The graphics of Ship of Fools is a cartoon style with a pretty fun flavour, the characters are crafted in a way that definitely gives the fun impression and look great. The game worlds are well crafted and the monsters you face are crafted well enough to give you the heeby jeebies. I played the game on PS5 and it looked really smooth and definitely took advantage of the consoles power.
The soundtrack of the game is good and works well with the overall feel of the game. In game the sound effects are fun and give the game that cartoon feeling making the gamer feel like they are watching a cartoon rather than playing a game.
Summary
Time now then to put my thoughts into a summary, overall I felt Ship of Fools is a whole load of fun, challenging to some degree but a lot of fun to play. I enjoyed the various battles with the monsters of the deep and felt the story was engaging throughout. All in all a well balanced title that I would recommend.
Verdict-Out of 5

, a good all round game lots of fun to play with challenging aspects to keep you engaged, doesn't reinvent the wheel but then it doesn't really need to.
