RIP to the best fighting game website there ever was. The beloved (and now extremely outdated) Smash Bros Brawl Dojo has been shutdown. For those not in the loop, back in the day before Nintendo Directs, Nintendo revealed new Smash Bros Brawl info through this nifty little website called Smash Bros Dojo. You would (ideally) check up on it daily to see if there was any new information about Smash Bros Brawl and some days you would be greeted by new stages, items, assist trophies and even characters like Sonic the Hedgehog.
It was an experience. It was a unique time where the internet had grown big enough for it to be used more actively as a marketing tool but not enough for things like E3 to be streamed easily. Additionally, downloadable DLC as a concept was still in its infancy in 2007-2008, especially for fighting games and practically non existent on the Wii. So this really was Brawl's one and only hype train. But now it's no more.
Discovered by the Smash Wiki discord, the website went offline over a week ago and while people were hoping that this was a temporary thing, it feels like that is not the case.
The entire website has been archived by WaybackMachine if you really want to check it out but this is like loosing the original Space Jam website. It's an old internet landmark from a time before games and online were as closely linked as they are now.
