Through the first day of the two-day Class 4A girls golf state championships at Thorncreek Golf Club in Thornton, Windsor is in eighth in the team standings, while Wizards sophomore Macy Kleve is tied for fifth, individually.
Kleve shot a 6-over-par 78 through the first 18 holes. Cheyenne Mountain senior Ava Schroeder and Erie junior Logan Hale are tied for first, each shooting a 1-under-par 71.
Erie comfortably leads the team race with a 7-over-par, three-golfer score of 223. Discovery Canyon sits in second with a 28-over-par score of 244.
Joining Kleve on Windsor's squad is senior Paige Bretz (plus-12, 84, tied-20th), junior Alexa Strohman (plus-30, 102, 73rd) and sophomore Abbie Winterbottom (plus-33, 105, 75th). The Wizards have a 48-over-par team score of 264.
Also among the local competitors in 4A, Northridge sophomore Leila Thompson is tied for 64th (25-over-par, 97), and her freshman Grizzlies teammate Jade Hepler is 72nd (29-over-par, 101).
Severance, Resurrection Christian compete in 3A
Through the first day of the 3A tournament at the Aspen Golf Club, Resurrection Christian is 12th and Severance sits in 14th place out of the 16-team standings.
The Cougars have a three-golfer team score of 306 with senior Sophie Dammarell leading the way with a 27-over-par 98. She sits in 26th place, individually.
Complementing Dammarell on Resurrection Christian's squad are senior Rylee Collins (103, 40th), freshman Avery Stockslager (105, tied-45th) and freshman Karina Garcia (112, 60th).
The Silver Knights have a team score of 319, led by sophomore Sophie Morgan (105, tied-45th). Also representing Severance are senior Caitlin Morgan (106, 48th), sophomore Katelyn Johnson (108, tied-49th) and junior Isabella Baessler (116, tied-66th).
St. Mary's Academy junior Maddy Bante has a multi-stroke lead on first place after shooting a 3-over-par 74 through the first 18 holes. Peak to Peak senior Noelle Thompson is second, carding a 78.
Aspen and St. Mary's Academy are tied atop the team standings, each shooting a first-day total of 263.
