Wales & West Utilities is investing £2million in Denbighshire's gas network over the course of the next two years which will help to keep the gas flowing safely to heat and power local homes and businesses long into the future.
The programme of work, which will be coordinated alongside Denbighshire County Council's own work and that of third parties, will involve discrete schemes across the county. The first scheme will begin next week (6 March) and involves working in the Ffordd Llanrhydd area of Ruthin.
Wales & West Utilities Francis Kirk is managing the overall gas upgrade programme, he said:
"This £2million investment in upgrading the gas network across Denbighshire represents 25 per cent of our workload for the year in our North Wales distribution network, and focuses on delivering a safe and secure gas network for communities across the county.
"We will continue to work with the Highways Authority at Denbighshire County Council to plan the individual schemes and commit to keeping local communities abreast of information, as plans are formalised.
"While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across north Wales. Whether it's heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.
"This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport hydrogen and biomethane, so we can all play our part in a green future."
Work to be undertaken over the course of the next two years includes the following areas:
- Bache Mill Road area, Llangollen
- Beach Road West area, Prestatyn
- Bridgegate Road area, Rhyl
- Bryn Seion area, Denbigh
- Clwyd Avenue area, Prestatyn
- Glascoed Road area, St Asaph
- Maes Cantaba area, Ruthin
- Meliden Road area, Prestatyn
- Tower Road area, Llangollen
- Upper Denbigh Road area, St Asaph
