Jon Jones does not like how his opponent is preparing for UFC 285.
'Bones' has been out of action for more than three years and was last seen inside the Octagon defending his light-heavyweight title against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 in February 2020.
Since then, he's been bulking up for his heavyweight debut which will finally take place this Saturday night when he squares off against Ciryl Gane at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The undisputed heavyweight title recently made vacant by Francis Ngannou will be on the line and Jones is taking his preparations for the UFC 285 main event extremely seriously.
However, the 35-year-old is not convinced his opponent is doing the same thing as he was recently videoed by UFC cameras playing FIFA 23 ahead of his world title shot.
Jones said: "I hear that Ciryl Gane's soccer team, online team, is ranked top 60 in the world. I'm sitting here focusing on combat and he's out here playing video games.
"The job is to have no mercy at the end of the day. Whether he is ready for this opportunity or not, somewhere inside of him he thinks there's a chance that he's going to take food off my family's table, he's going to destroy my legacy. That's something I take very personally and there's no mercy."
After 28 MMA fights, Jones is regarded by many as the best fighter of all time and can solidify his GOAT status by becoming a two-weight world champion this weekend.
Gane is just 11 fights into his career. The 32-year-old only took up MMA in 2018 when the furniture store he was working at as a salesman closed down.
Now he's a former interim UFC champion who is about to get his second shot at the undisputed title and Jones thinks he is just happy to be in such a big spot.
He added: "In France, he's super popular right now, they don't care if they win or lose.
"They are glad to be here, they are just glad to be here. You saw his coach wear a tuxedo for an interview. His coach is in suits, [my team] hasn't even showered today."
Everyone in Jones' entourage laughed at his final comment and one coach, Brandon Gibson, insisted that he showers before they went back to preparing for UFC 285.
Gane is yet to comment on his opponent being angered by him playing FIFA 23 ahead of the biggest fight of his life.
But he seemed happy enough, beating PSG and Lionel Messi 6-0 as Real Madrid.
