[New post] ‘A bet is a bet’ – Derek Chisora urges Jake Paul to pay up after double or nothing bet with Tommy Fury
Cameron Temple posted: " Derek Chisora has told Jake Paul to honour his double or nothing bet with Tommy Fury despite the contract not being signed. Ahead of the Paul vs Fury fight last weekend, at the pre-fight press conference, the social media star suggested a doub" talkSPORT
Initially, Fury's dad, John Fury, agreed to the bet and then his son met Paul in the middle of the stage to shake hands on it.
This has led heavyweight veteran, Chisora, who was also on stage at the press conference, to believe it is Paul's duty to now pay his debts having been beaten by split decision.
"When we were on stage in Saudi for this fight, Tommy and Jake shook on the bet and they shook hands," Chisora said on his Instagram story.
"I got the contract, so I think Tommy should get money off Jake Paul or else I'm going to leak the contract out, I got it.
"A bet is a bet, they shook hands on it, you don't need the contract and you don't need anything.
"Man to man if you shake hands, you pay the man you shook hands with, so I think Jake Paul should wire money to Tommy, that's fair."
Chisora then followed up by posting a throwback video of himself while in Saudi Arabia before the fight going to deliver the double or nothing bet contract to Fury, with it already having been signed by Paul.
A video that emerged on the Betr TikTok page, however, suggests that the contract was never signed by Fury and so legally he is not entitled to any extra money from Paul.
Fury's dad and trainer, John, was present in Paul's dressing room watching his hands get wrapped pre-fight when he was asked about the contract.
"Let's talk about boxing, that's what we're here to do, box," John said and he dismissed any further questions by adding: "I'm concentrating."
After Paul's hands had been wrapped and John was about to leave the dressing room he was once again questioned about whether his son had signed the contract.
"Why don't you shut up. Listen, video boy, just shut up video boy, little nobody," John responded angrily.
Judging by John's reaction, it seems Fury did not sign the contract and so has missed out on earning millions more than he could have by beating Paul, even if Chisora does believe that the American should still pay up.
