The capital is ready to host one of the most exciting occasions on the sporting calendar as the London Marathon returns to its traditional spring slot.
The 2023 marathon is coming up soon as tens of thousands get set to descend on the streets of London.
The London Marathon will take place in April this year
Over 40,000 people took place in the huge event last year with the winners of the elite races being Amos Kipruto and Yalemzerf Yehualaw.
So with the 2023 edition of the 26.2 mile race closing in, here's everything you need to know about the London Marathon…
London Marathon 2023: When is it?
This year's London Marathon will take place on Sunday, April 23.
It will be the first time since 2019 that the race will return to its traditional date after being held on October for the last three years.
Each year, the marathon begins at 9:30am and it will be an all day event.
However, the cut-off time is seven hours, with runners who complete the race after that time not receiving a medal.
Tens of thousands of participants will be heading to London
London Marathon 2023: Route
The London Marathon route has remained largely unchanged since 1981 as the course takes runners past many of the capital's landmarks.
Starting in Greenwich, those competing will begin near the Meridian Line in Greenwich Park, the world clock's neutral point from which all time zones are measured from.
From there runners will pass the Cutty Sark and the Shard before crossing Tower Bridge as they approach the halfway stage of the course.
They will then head toward Canary Wharf before turning west along Victoria Embankment to Westminster where they'll pass the London Eye.
As the race nears its conclusion runners will then pass Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament before heading along The Mall towards where they will close in on the finishing line which is situated just a stones' throw from Buckingham Palace.
The London Marathon will finish in its traditional spot in front of Buckingham Palace
London Marathon 2023: How to watch
The London Marathon will be broadcast live on BBC One.
It has been the host broadcaster of the event since its first ever edition in 1982.
Further details on when the broadcast will begin will be announced closer to the race.
