His first half header sent United on course to victory, and was soon added to by a deflected Marcus Rashford shot, but there could have been more.
Late on, Bruno Fernandes had the chance to turn 2-0 into 3-0 when they broke into Newcastle's half and outnumbered their defence, but after cutting back in onto his left foot, the chance was wasted.
The full-time whistle soon blew, and the celebrations began, but Casemiro was still unhappy with his Portuguese teammate for not making the right decision.
Looking frustrated, he pulled Fernandes' shirt to release him from a hug with Scott McTominay, and then gestured towards the goal.
Fernandes instantly came up with an excuse, while McTominay watched on laughing at their competitiveness.
Like the Scottish midfielder, United legend Roy Keane also loved to see it.

"I like that, I like players arguing," he said on Sky Sports. "Whatever they're arguing about there, it means they care."
That mentality is being driven by their manager Ten Hag, who almost forgot to take the Carabao Cup trophy with him afterwards.
He said: "It does, it shows something, silverware, that you are on a good pathway, you are in a good direction.
"It is one cup and it is February, but it shows we are in the right direction. This has to be the inspiration, it has to be the motivation to keep going, to continue on this pathway and to improve.
"Okay, be happy for 24 hours but not satisfied because satisfaction, that leads to laziness and when you become lazy, you don't win any more games and you can't win trophies."
