Tottenham are set to be without manager Antonio Conte for an unspecified period of time as he undergoes surgery.
The Premier League club have said the Italian is having his gallbladder removed on Wednesday and will return to his post after 'a period of recuperation'.
Conte has undergone surgery
"Antonio Conte recently became unwell with severe abdominal pain," read a club statement on social media.
"Following a diagnosis of cholecystitis, he will be undergoing surgery to remove his gallbladder today and will return following a period of recuperation.
"Everyone at the club wishes him well."
It is unclear when the boss will be able to return, but it appears unlikely he will be in the dugout for Spurs' Premier League clash at home to Man City on Sunday.
Conte's assistant coach, Cristian Stellini, is likely to be in the hotseat in his place, as well as fulfil the manager's media duties, having already been chosen for press conference duty for the club's domestic matches this season - most recently speaking the press ahead of their FA Cup fourth round victory over Preston.
