Weld County's first babies of the new year arrived Sunday morning.
Both local hospitals announced the birth of the facilities' first newborns of the new year.
Eastynn Lancaster of Greeley made his entrance into the world at 3:12 a.m. at North Colorado Medical Center. He weighed 6 pounds, 1 ounce.
His parents are Amber and Jonathan Lancaster. He joins his other four siblings, Owen, Jace, Aven and Paisley.
Eastynn entered the world a little more than a week before his due date after doctors elected to induce Amber Lancaster for health reasons.
The Lancaster family received a gift basket from the hospital staff in honor of being the first baby born in 2023.
On the other side of town, Makena Josephine Polese of Severance became UCHealth Greeley Hospital's first baby of the new year.

She was born at 8:44 a.m. to parents Sam and Greg Polese. Makena weighed 5 pounds, 12 ounces and was 19 1/4 inches long.
The Polese family will also receive gifts from the UCHealth hospital gift shop and Volunteer Services, including a quilt, a couple of outfits, a teddy bear and more.
