Southampton are keen to secure the services of Croatia World Cup star Mislav Orsic, talkSPORT understands.
Nathan Jones' Saints are in desperate need for reinforcements with his side currently bottom of the Premier League, winning just once in 12 league games.
Dinamo Zagreb forward Orsic is a target for Southampton this January
Orsic would cost around £7.5million and has been earmarked as someone who can help fire Southampton out of the relegation zone and up the table.
The Croatia international has eight goals and seven assists for Dinamo Zagreb this campaign, and is no stranger when it comes to English clubs.
The 30-year-old attacking midfielder scored a hat-trick against Spurs, dumping them out of the Europa League in 2020 and he also netted against West Ham in the Europe last season.
Orsic later scored the winner against Chelsea in their Champions League opener, which resulted in Thomas Tuchel's sacking.
The Saint will need to act fast, though, if they are to secure his services, with other European clubs interested.
Southampton are also interested in Racing Club midfielder Carlos Alcaraz.
Croatian forward Orsic has scored against Tottenham, Chelsea and West Ham
The 20-year-old has netted 12 goals and provided six assists in 83 appearances for the Argentinian club, and is a target for both Inter Milan and Benfica.
Lorient's 23-year-old striker Terem Moffi is another the Saints are keen on signing this January.
The Nigeria international is one of several strikers the Saints are considering, along with Udinese forward Beto.
Former Luton boss Jones is also expected to recall Jack Stephens from his loan at Bournemouth, and Jan Bednarek, who joined Aston Villa in the summer to help bolster his backline.
