Laura Sanko will make history this weekend when she becomes the first female in 30 years to commentate on an official UFC fight.
The ex-fighter-turned-analyst will make her official UFC commentary debut on Saturday night as she will be behind to call an event at the APEX Facility in Las Vegas headlined by Derrick Lewis vs Sergey Spivac.
The 40-year-old is just the second female commentator in UFC history and the first in 30 years after kickboxing champion Kathy Long called the first UFC event in 1993.
Sanko said: "Taking the next step to join the UFC commentary team has been a goal of mine since I began my broadcast career.
"It is an honour to walk in the footprint of Kathy Long 30 years after her appearance on UFC 1.
"I consider it a true privilege to be part of the team that is a voice to our incredible fans, communicating the fighting art of each man and woman who steps inside the UFC Octagon."
UFC president Dana White added: "I can't think of anyone better to be the first female colour commentator for the modern UFC era than Laura.
"She has worked incredibly hard to prove herself and get to this position and I couldn't be prouder to have her calling the action."
Sanko started off in the sport as a fighter, winning four of her five amateur bouts before turning professional with the all-female promotion Invicta FC in 2013.
'Fancy' made her debut at atomweight and beat Cassie Robb by submission in round two before walking away from fighting to pursue a career reporting on the sport.
Sanko commented on Invicta FC fights in 2014 before moving to the UFC and debuting as a backstage reporter at a UFC on FOX event in 2016.
Since then, she's been a permanent fixture in the UFC broadcast team, presentencing pre and post-fight shows and honing her commentary skills on Dana White's Contender Series.
Sanko has been pushing for a call-up to the UFC's main commentary team and has now got her wish after years of hard work with MMA's premier promotion.
