Chelsea have agreed a deal for Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile. The two clubs have finalised a deal worth €38 million including all add-ons.
The defender becomes yet another acquisition for the Blues, after agreeing deals for Andrey Santos, Christopher Nkunku and David Datro Fofana. Once he is registered during the upcoming window, he will be available for selection in the Premier League.
Benoit Badiashile to join Chelsea in January
With a total agreement in place between the two clubs, the medical for the transfer will take place on Monday. He is expected to sign a contract until 2029, and the deal will be announced in the coming days once the formalities have been completed.
At 21, Benoit Badiashile is still very young. But, he has made 135 appearances for Monaco and has been capped twice by the French national team. He is showing a lot of potential, and could be a long-term player for the Blues.
Chelsea's strategy of signing young players for the future has led them to Badiashile. They have already signed Wesley Fofana, Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei, David Datro Fofana and Gabriel Slolina, and could be a force to reckoned with in the coming decade once these new players are integrated into their first team.
