When the Greeley Stampede hit its centennial this year, General Manager Justin Watada and crew celebrated with the fanfare fit for such a milestone.
The festivities kicked off on June 23 with the popular Xtreme Bulls event. As bulls and riders burst out of the chutes, fans got their first peek at the Stampede's massive JBS Stage.
Country music star Brad Paisley returned to the Stampede to break in the stage and showcase its state-of-the-art sound and visual capabilities, while Jon Pardi finally made the event. Pardi was scheduled to perform in 2020 when the Stampede was canceled due to the pandemic. He was expected to return in 2021 but had scheduling conflicts.
The Greeley Stampede arena got a face-lift as artists Armando Silva and Cody Kuehl created two amazing murals in the entrances leading up to the arena. Students from local schools also made selfie boards and colorful barrels that were displayed around the park.
The rodeo events drew in some of the nation's top athletes including the Wright clan, eight-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier bareback rider Tilden Hooper and barrel racer Aspen Miller.
Outside the arena, fans enjoyed the carnival and all the fattening fried foods the event brings with it.
