Philippe Coutinho has shut down any rumours that he asked to leave Aston Villa, insisting they are all 'lies'.
The Brazilian moved to Aston Villa from Barcelona in January – initially on loan – before his move was made permanent in the summer transfer window.

Coutinho has had a difficult time at Villa Park
Former Villa manager Steven Gerrard, who was also Coutinho's teammate at Liverpool, pushed for the Brazilian's signing but the attacking midfielder hasn't lived up to expectations.
Now, with doubts over his future, Coutinho has taken to Instagram to wipe away any questions and has made it clear he is happy at Villa Park.
The 30-year-old said in his Instagram post: "In the last few days I've seen a lot of news with my name but so far, okay, the problem is now that some lies have started and I'm here to clarify.
"NEVER and at any moment had any kind of conversation of mine asking to leave the club, because I'm happy here and my family too.
"My only focus now that I'm recovered from the injury is to work at the maximum every day, to play in a high level and help the club and my team mates to achieve our goals."
Coutinho has struggled with injury as of late – at the start of November, he suffered a quadricep injury that ruled him out for 10 weeks, and subsequently Brazil's World Cup campaign.

Coutinho has denied rumours he asked to leave the club
He did make a return in Villa's Boxing Day loss to former club Liverpool, and he'll be hoping to regain form in the second half of the campaign.
He has only made six starts this campaign, dropping down the pecking order, and has failed to contribute to a goal in 13 appearances for the club this season.
Villa were convinced of making the signing permanent after his good form while on loan, but that hasn't been replicated in this campaign.
